How CrateHound works
CrateHound is a discovery tool for rare and hard-to-find vinyl. It searches hundreds of independent record shops at once, and — the part that matters — it can watch them for you and email you the moment a record you want turns up.
1. Find the record
Search by artist, album, or pressing. Every result pools listings from independent shops across the catalogue, so you compare real prices and availability side by side instead of trawling shop after shop. Browse a whole artist's discography, or an album's every vinyl pressing, from one page.
2. Add it to your want list
Not in stock anywhere? Waiting for the price to come down? Add the record — or the whole album, any pressing — to your want list. You can set a price ceiling and choose whether to include secondhand copies. It's free, and there's no new password: you sign in with Shop, the same account you already use to check out and track orders across Shopify stores.
3. We watch, and email you
CrateHound keeps checking the shops in the background. The moment a copy comes back in stock, the price drops below your ceiling, or a new shop lists one, you get an email with a link straight to the store. No single shop's newsletter watches every other shop — that's the thing CrateHound does that nothing else does.
What it costs
Nothing. CrateHound is free to use. When you buy through a link here the shop may pay us a small commission, at no extra cost to you — that's what keeps it running. If it found you a record, you can also support it on Ko-fi.
