Cratehound (cratehound.app) is a vinyl discovery service that searches independent record stores and can alert you when records on your want list become available. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain English.

What we collect

Account details. If you sign in (via Shopify's “Sign in with Shop”), we store your email address so we can send the alerts you ask for. We never see your password — sign-in happens with Shopify.
Your want list. The records you save, plus the preferences you set on them (price ceiling, condition).
Aggregate view counts. The “Most viewed this week” chart is powered by a daily counter per record. It stores no user, session, IP, or browser data — just a number next to a record.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand overall site usage. It sets cookies; we configure it with IP anonymisation and advertising signals off. You can block analytics cookies with your browser or an ad blocker and the site works exactly the same.
Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard, short-lived request logs for security and debugging.

What we never do

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
We do not show third-party ads or run ad trackers.
We do not store payment details — purchases happen entirely on the record store's own site.

Emails

We only email you about records on your own want list. Those emails may contain links we earn a commission on (this never changes the price you pay). Remove an item from your want list to stop alerts for it, or contact us to close your account entirely.

Where your data lives

Data is stored with our infrastructure providers: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), and Resend (email delivery). Catalogue data comes from participating Shopify stores and from Discogs' openly licensed dataset; neither involves your personal data.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@cratehound.app and we'll sort it out.
